Join Glastonbury Court for summer fun to celebrate Care Home Open Day

June 7th 2017

Glastonbury Court is inviting local people to visit the home on Saturday 17th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 2pm-4pm, the team at Glastonbury Court will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

With the help of Friends of Glastonbury, the care team has organised a summer garden party to celebrate the open day. Guests will be able to enjoy live entertainment, cream teas, and a variety of stalls including a tombola, a raffle and tasty barbecue, prepared specially by the home’s chefs.

Sharlene Van Tonder, home manager at Glastonbury Court, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.

“We cannot wait to open our doors to the community to showcase everything Glastonbury Court has to offer and the difference care homes make to residents’ lives and their wellbeing. We have planned a fun day for all the family and a warm welcome awaits the people of Bury St Edmunds.”

Our 80-bed care home specialises in supporting people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Keeping active is the key to staying independent, so we support residents to take part in a range of activities and even have their own small role in the home if that appeals to them – like laying the table for dinner.
