Monica Lacey, a resident at Larkland House, turned 94 on Thursday 24th October and received a very special present from the care team, her very first doll.
Lynn, from the activities team, had heard that Monica had never had a toy doll, so proudly presented her with one for her birthday this year. She said “Monica has been a resident at Larkland House for 10 years. She likes to tell stories of her childhood, how poor her family were and that she never had a doll. When she reached her 94th birthday I decided to buy her one. We presented the doll on her birthday and she was delighted.”
Monica said “It has taken 94 years to get my childhood dream present.”
The doll now takes pride of place on her bed and she likes to show visitors. Monica has named the doll Jane.
