Lennox House Pair Pick Up Award

February 23rd 2012

Two of our Lennox House team beat off stiff competition to win an Islington Council Dignity in Care Award.

Residential Unit Manager Ruth Henry and Clinical lead Nurse Nayyereh-Shiva Sheikholeslami (known as Shiva) were among the six winners from the borough.

The awards were part of the national Dignity in Care campaign which aims to stimulate a nationwide debate around dignity in care and promote zero tolerance of abuse and disrespect of adults in health and social care services.

This was the first time the council has staged the awards which recognised and showcased the work of formal care staff and contractors who provide a dignified service to residents.

Twenty finalists were nominated by Care Managers from across domiciliary care, residential care, extra care and day centres and judged against the 10 point Dignity Challenge by a panel of experts.

The six outstanding winners were revealed at an awards event on Wednesday 15 February where they were awarded a certificate by The Mayor of Islington.

Shiva said, ‘Carers work hard and not for the money or for awards - there is very rarely formal acknowledgement. I am very proud of this award.’
