Local community invited to Silversprings ‘Vintage Day’ celebrations

June 6th 2019

Silversprings is inviting the local community to join in with a day of vintage-themed entertainment.

Silversprings Care Home Takes a Step Back in Time to the 1940s

On Saturday 15th June, from 10am - 3pm, local people are invited to drop into Silversprings to celebrate Vintage Day.

There will be a wartime vehicle show, including a range of vintage cars and motorbikes, plus a genuine MKII Spitfire. Guests will have the chance to meet with land army soldiers and RAF personnel, while tapping their feet to well-known wartime tunes performed by The Swingtime Sweethearts.

There will also be the opportunity for visitors to browse an array of vintage stalls, and enjoy traditional wartime food and refreshments.

Donna Cousins, home manager at Silversprings, said: “Everyone at the home is really excited to welcome the community to join us for a day of family-friendly fun on Vintage Day. There is a real buzz around the care home already, with preparations now well underway.

“We are part of a strong community here at Silversprings, not only with local people and organisations, but as a wider care home network with our neighbouring Care UK homes. We regularly host reminiscence activities and events for residents, as many of them have fond memories of their younger years and have stories they love to share, so days like this are a great way bring us all together for fun and laughter.”
