Marc Scott, acting manager at Blyford care home in Lowestoft, has won a national award after impressing judges with his approachable personality and ability to run the home as smoothly as possible.
Marc, who has been at Blyford for three years, was nominated for the Team Leader award category, where judges look for qualities such as a professional ability to handle tasks and a capacity to be responsible, reliable and good at listening to others.
Colleagues who nominated Marc for the award told judges: “Marc is never thrown by what comes his way. He has a calm and professional way of dealing with any problems and he always listens to fresh ideas, as well as taking on advice when it is needed.
“As a manager I am impressed with his skills as a carer and his commitment to delivering first class care through a well-managed team. Marc deserves this award and I am very proud to have been able to nominate him.”
Marc was amazed when his name was announced at the ceremony organised by Care UK on 14th November at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxford. He said: “It was an incredible night and I am grateful to the judges and my colleagues for the honour. I have been working as a professional carer for eight years and I love making a difference to people’s lives, by organising outings, events and other enjoyable activities that improve the quality of life for older members of the community.”
The awards were open to all Care UK homes and wellbeing centres across the country.
