Millers Grange is inviting the local community to attend its grand launch event where the Mayor of Witney, Councillor Duncan Enright, will help to officially open the home.
On Thursday 20th June, from 2pm-4pm, local people are invited to visit Millers Grange on Curbridge Road to join in the celebrations, which will also be attended by Councillor Lawrie Stratford, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health.
As the first residents move into Millers Grange, everyone at the home is gearing up to mark its official opening – with a little help from some special guests.
Councillor Duncan Enright will be cutting the ribbon to officially open the care home, alongside children from the neighbouring Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School, and the winner of Millers Grange’s recent ‘Witney Heroes’ competition, who will be announced to the public at the event.
Guests will be welcomed by a musical performance from the primary school children, while vintage singer Beth Belle will support the event with classic tunes from the 1940s.
After the official proceedings, there will be fun for all the family and a chance to get up close with some friendly therapy dogs from Canine Concern Oxfordshire. Residents and guests will also be able to hone their flower arranging skills and try the home’s dementia-friendly ‘Magic Table’, including games such as catching butterflies and sweeping up leaves.
Millers Grange home manager, Steve Reader, said: “Since we opened the doors to Millers Grange, we have had such a warm and positive response from those living locally, and we already feel like part of the community. We would, therefore, like to invite the people of Witney to be part of our official opening celebrations.
“We have planned a family-friendly event to appeal to all generations, and we are delighted to have so many special guests coming along on the day to help us mark this important milestone.”
Those who attend the event will also have the chance to meet the team at Millers Grange and take a tour of the care home.
