Mayor helps Winchcombe Place care home celebrate suite launch

Home news

The Mayor of Newbury, Howard Bairstow, was given the honour of cutting the ribbon and officially opening the new Bucklebury nursing suite at Winchcombe Place care home in Newbury.

The Care UK team at Winchcombe Place opened the doors of the care home on Maple Crescent to family, friends and the local community, to celebrate the unveiling of the suite, which will provide specialist residential care for 20 older people in Newbury.

The celebrations coincided with the care home’s second birthday, with live music throughout the afternoon from local group, Sticky Fingers, who performed classic sing-along-songs on a ukulele to get everyone in the party spirit.

Stephanie Jones, home manager at Winchcombe Place, said: “It is a very exciting time for Winchcombe Place. We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our services and it was wonderful to give the local community a first view of the new suite. This latest edition to the care home means that we are able to build on our existing provision and we cannot wait to welcome new residents to join the warm and welcoming community we have created here at Winchcombe Place.

“We are very grateful to the Mayor of Newbury for helping us to celebrate this special milestone. Everyone had a brilliant afternoon and it was wonderful to see the smiling faces of the residents and visitors as we all joined in to sing songs from the good old days.”

Winchcombe Place is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable its residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, hairdressing salon and coffee shop; and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation. Winchcombe Place will also be opening a new nursing suite in April.
