The Newcastle Central NHS Walk-in Centre offers fast access to experienced nurses and on-site GPs who can provide advice and treatment for a wide range of minor illnesses and injuries without an appointment.
Healthcare professionals at the Centre can treat a number of health problems including stomach upsets, ear, eye and throat infections, strains, sprains, minor rashes, scalds, cuts, grazes, bites, stings and minor head injuries.
The Walk-in Centre is based in the courtyard of the Jurys Inn hotel, next to the Centre for Life and is open every day of the week. Early morning and evening opening times make it easier for patients to fit in seeing a GP or nurse during the working day. The Centre is also convenient for local residents, visitors to Newcastle or any NHS patient who many need advice or treatment away from home.
The Centre manager said "Easy access to treatment for common health problems is the aim of the service".
"The Walk-in Centre is in an ideal location for people who work or live in Newcastle city centre, as well as those who travel to, from and through central station.
"We're within a five minute walk of the station and our opening hours mean people can pop in easily - there's no need for an appointment - before or after work, or even in their lunch break.
"Our doctors and nurses provide advice and treatment for a wide range of ailments and, just like the rest of the NHS, there is no charge for any of the services we provide."
NHS Walk-in Centres have been introduced to complement local GP and hospital services. The Newcastle Central NHS Walk-in Centre is managed on behalf of the NHS by Care UK.
The Centre is contactable on 0191 233 3760.
