Volunteers are being sought to help a fundraising team from a Rickmansworth care home get on their bikes.
The team, from Care UK’s Chalfont Court care home in Uxbridge Road, are planning a 12-hour bike-a-thon to raise funds for Red Nose Day and they are keen to invite volunteers to take a turn in the saddle.
The event will run from 8am until 8pm at the home on Friday March 15, with an exercise bike set to be put through its paces, whilst visitors and volunteers will also be able to take on a number of other fun challenges or join in with events during the day.
Home Manager Keren Welch said: “Our local leisure centre has kindly agreed to lend us a bike and team members, along with local churches, schools and Scout groups, will ride the bike in 15 minute shifts. Anyone completing a shift will receive a certificate and we are inviting anyone else in the community to join in.”
As well as the bike-athon, Activities Coordinator Emily Stimpson will be trying to paint 25 faces in two hours as a sponsored event.
She said: “It usually takes me five minutes to paint a face so it will be quite a challenge, but Red Nose Day is a very worthwhile cause.”
Other events will include guessing the number of red sweets in a jar, a bottle tombola, a book sale and a chance to have your nails ‘blinged’ by Activities Coordinator Kat Stenning.
Keren said: “It should be a great event and, from 2pm, there will also be entertainment provided by local singer Chris Ryan. The residents and their families are really looking forward to the day and to welcoming new friends to their home.”
