Brook Court is helping to create a dementia-friendly community, by hosting a Dementia Friends session.6276-cwf3339-ashford-web-banner

On Thursday 24th August, from 2pm-3pm, local people can visit Brook Court and learn about what it is like to live with dementia.

The Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is an initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.

The home has joined forces with the Kidderminster Dementia Action Alliance, as part of its commitment to promoting dementia awareness within the community.

During the event, the Care UK team at Brook Court will be on hand to help local people understand what it is like to live with dementia.

Joanne Gill, home manager at Brook Court, said: “At Brook Court we have a commitment to encourage others to learn about dementia, and we are really proud of the progress we have made by supporting Dementia Friends. We want to educate people, but also help the community turn their knowledge into action by making our community more aware of those living with dementia.

“We look forward to welcoming members of the Kidderminster community into our home on Thursday 24th August, and helping to spread awareness of what it is like living with dementia.”
