When some of our residents told staff they would like to visit Southend-on-Sea for the day it wasn’t long before we were heading for the coast.
Our staff were more than happy to accompany the residents and one relative also went along with her aunty.
The residents had a great time at Adventure Island, playing games, eating freshly fried donuts, and they enjoyed a lunch of fish and chips. One resident won a soft toy when competing in a darts game and one resident requested to join a live entertainment act, ‘The Glee Club’, on stage and sing with them.
The relative who accompanied her aunty said: “I am proud of what the staff at Forrester Court are doing for the residents who are suffering from early onset dementia and it was clear to see they all enjoyed their day out. It was great to spend some time with my aunty and seeing her with a big smile on her face.”
To end a fun filled day the residents headed to the sea front and returned to the home in the evening.
