Residents at Silversprings welcomed local people for a summer garden party to celebrate Care Home Open Day.
Silversprings was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Residents and visitors were able to try their luck in a raffle and take part in reminiscence activities, while entertainment from Scottish pipe band, Colchester Pipes and Drums, got everyone into the party spirit.
Donna Cousins, home manager at Silversprings, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day is a particular highlight each year as it is a brilliant opportunity to showcase our home and celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike.
“This year’s event was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links within the local community. We hope that all our visitors enjoyed themselves as much as we did and look forward to welcoming them back to the home for events in the future.”
