Tall Tree’s Rachel Carter wins Care UK Angel at Care UK awards

December 2nd 2015

darlington-court-sj-095A huge congratulations to Rachel Carter of Tall Tree care home who has won Care UK Angel of the year at the Care UK awards. The Care UK Angel is the special ‘people’s choice’ award that is voted for by residents and relatives.

The annual Care UK awards took place at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire on Thursday 19th November. The awards are a celebration of the great work, compassion and dedication of the staff at Care UK.  With 114 homes across the UK, we support more than 7,000 people to continue living active and independent lives in warm, safe and comfortable surroundings. This year, more than 700 nominations were received across 17 categories in the Care UK awards.

Andrew Knight, Residential Care Services managing director, said: “A huge congratulations to all our winners and a big well done to everybody that had been nominated, we really appreciate the great job you’re doing.”

Rachel was commended for her unique ability to recognise when a challenging situation is starting to develop and acting quickly. She is not task orientated and residents needs and support come first. She is also described as a perfect mentor to less experienced carers.

Rachel always gives relatives a cheery and warm welcome and an immediate update on the situation with their loved one, which relatives explained means so much to them.
Tall Trees Home Manager Alice Banda said “I am delighted that Rachel has won the Care UK Angel award, it is indeed fantastic news and is a reflection on the quality of the care team we have here at Tall Trees. It is such a privilege to be managing a team with very caring staff such as Rachel.”

Winner Rachel Carter said “I am very grateful to have received this award. I couldn’t have received it without the support from my colleagues and my manager Alice for believing in me.”

The team at Tall Trees is passionate about ensuring that it feels like home – both for residents and their loved ones. Residents’ families are encouraged to stay for as long as they like, and join in home life. Residents – many of whom are local – are also supported to continue playing a part in local community life.
