The Lord Provost of Edinburgh joins Maisie to celebrate her 100th birthday

December 30th 2013
Cairdean House resident Maisie McGregor, who was born on 3 December in 1913 and lived most of her life locally in Colinton,  celebrated her 100th birthday with two birthday parties including a visit from a representative from the Lord Provost of Edinburgh’s office.
Maisie, who moved to live in the new Cairdean House care home in 2013, received the customary centenary birthday telegram from the Queen and enjoyed the first of her birthday celebrations in the afternoon with other residents and her care team, who provided a cake and a special banner with Maisie’s picture and name on it.
In the evening there was a second party organised by Maisie’s family, with around 40 family and friends attending.
Helen Kinnaird, Care UK manager at Cairdean House care home, says: “Maisie is a very special and very popular lady. She is a much loved character at Cairdean and it was wonderful that so many family and friends, residents and carers could celebrate the special day with Maisie”.
