STAFF at Care UK-run health centres across the country are urging people to put their sexual health at the top of the agenda this week (September 14-20), national Sexual Health Week.
Dr Marjorie Gillespie is Primary Care Medical Director at Care UK. She said sexual health is a very important issue and reminded people the Care UK-run centres offer contraceptive advice including emergency contraception and most offer chlamydia screening.
“STIs (sexually transmitted illnesses) can be very nasty and, as always, prevention is better than cure. Members of our nursing team can offer advice on contraception, carry out cervical screening and, where necessary, signpost people to other sexual health services locally,” said Dr Gillespie.
Care UK-run health centres are open 365 days a year for walk-in patients. These extended hours have also made them a very popular choice with patients who have chosen them as their registered GP surgery.
