On Friday June 21, Care UK’s homes joined hundreds of others around the country opening their doors for the first National Care Home Open Day and here, in Portsmouth, we were not about to be left out!
The day was to be a celebration of all that is great about residential care.
Manager Grant Douglas said: “We have a wonderful, vibrant home and excellent connections with the local community, so we wanted to invite people in to our home who may not have visited us before, to see what a positive experience residential care can be.
“Everyone had a wonderful time and we were all delighted that we were joined by Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Councillor Lynne Stagg. Our team provided a tasty buffet and there were lots of stalls and activities to keep people entertained.”
As well as showing visitors around our home we also gave away copies of the brand new book As Easy As ABC: Care UK’s Top 100 Hints and Tips for Activity Based Care. If you would like to learn more about ABC and how it can improve older people’s independence and wellbeing you can download it from www.careuk.com.
