Forrester Court residents and colleagues were delighted to welcome a group of health and welfare experts from South Korea during a visit to the UK to learn more about long-term care.
The six delegates from the Ministry of Health and Welfare spoke to home Sue Ann Jones as well as nurses, carers and residents to learn more about how we care for people with dementia.
Sue Ann said: “Like the UK, South Korea has an ageing population and the ministry is keen to plan how it will help people to live healthy life styles as well as ensuring that there is specialist care available for older people as they need it.
“They were particularly keen to see how we help residents to maintain their independence and life skills and they were interested to see how we help people to keep up their interests and hobbies.
“We also work hard with residents’ families to create fun events and opportunities for them to create new memories and reinforce family bonds. This, along with honouring any cultural needs or differences, is very important in helping each resident keep their sense of identity and dignity.”
