Wellmeadow Lodge gets toes tapping during arty open day

July 12th 2019

There were celebrations all round when the team at Wellmeadow Lodge invited the local community in for a day of art-themed fun and games.

The team at Wellmeadow Lodge welcomed local people to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.

This year’s theme celebrated the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.

On the day, residents and visitors tapped their toes to live entertainment from Lyksid & Julie Max, alongside an art exhibition, showcasing residents’ paintings.

As part of a nationwide competition for all Care UK homes, Wellmeadow Lodge also developed a work of art in the lead up to the open day, which was showcased at the event.

Catherine Brannan, home manager at Wellmeadow Lodge, said: “We had a fantastic time celebrating Care Home Open Day at Wellmeadow Lodge. The residents really enjoyed showcasing their artistic skills, and it was brilliant to see so many of our neighbours come along for the party.

“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like. We would like to say a big thank you to the people of Glasgow for celebrating with us.”

At Wellmeadow Lodge the focus is on fun, food and entertainment. Popular activities include arts and crafts, board games, armchair aerobics, film nights and theatre trips. Residents also enjoy fine dining on special occasions such as Valentine’s Day and Burns Night when our chef prepares delicious themed meals.
