The Winchcombe Place care home in Newbury has welcomed a new member of the team, as Stephanie Jones joins as home manager. And on Thursday 3 December, Stephanie will be opening the doors to the care home on Maple Crescent for a ‘meet the manager’ event.
Stephanie, from Upper Basildon, has taken to the helm of the 70-strong team at Winchcombe Place with responsibility for the day-to-day running of the care home. Having qualified as a nurse almost 38 years ago, Stephanie spent much of her nursing carer working with older people. She has since built up extensive experience in the residential care sector and brings a person-centred approach to her latest role.
Speaking about her new position, Stephanie said: ““I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to take on such an exciting role at Winchcombe Place, and to be heading up a team of committed and compassionate individuals on behalf of Care UK.
“I strongly believe residents should be at the heart of everything we do here, and I will be leading the way in ensuring care is tailored to their individual needs. At the same time, I will be building on the reputation Winchcombe Place has as a valued part of the community in Newbury, and I look forward to meeting local people and getting to know our neighbours at the forthcoming ‘meet the manager’ event.”
Stephanie’s appointment coincides with the arrival of a new customer relations manager, Amanda Speck, who joins Winchcombe Place to provide the all-important link between prospective residents, their friends and families, and the care home.
Amanda, who is from Wokingham, worked in the fitness industry and in various community engagement roles before joining Care UK a year ago. At Winchcombe Place, she will act as the lynchpin between the home and the local community, forging relationships with key individuals, groups and agencies.

Stephanie is a hands-on manager who is clearly looking forward to being involved in all aspects of daily life within the home, and together with Amanda, she is already driving standards to ensure Winchcombe Place builds a reputation for quality, person-centred care.”
People in Newbury are invited to drop into Winchcombe Place on Thursday 3rd December any time between 10.30am and 12.30pm to ‘meet the manager’. There will be a coffee morning with a chance to get to know Stephanie and her team, and visitors will also have the opportunity to take a closer look at the care home.
