With fantastic facilities in our home and so much to do on our doorstep, at Oakfield Croft the biggest challenge will be deciding what to do each day.
Keeping active and engaged in everyday life is vital for maintaining independence as we get older. Because everyone likes to do different things, our lifestyle team will organise a range of group and one-to-one activities each day tailored to residents’ interests.
We’ll always make time just for your loved one, whether they fancy doing some gardening, a trip to the shops in Sale, to watch a Sale Sharks rugby match, or if they simply want to have a chat in their room.
Sale is known for its strong community feel, and we’re looking forward to forging ties with local toddler groups and schools, community groups, churches and charities so that there’s always someone popping in to chat to residents and join us for activities. We’re also planning to run our own information sessions for local family carers on aspects of older people’s care, including funding care, falls prevention and dementia awareness.
Playing their part
Your loved one may be the sort of person who likes to have a role in the home. This could be anything at all, from handing out the post to laying the table for dinner or doing some washing up. They’re welcome to get involved however they wish – it’s always a great opportunity for a chat and a laugh too.
Oakfield Croft care home will be only five miles from Manchester (just 20 minutes on the tram), so we’re looking forward to exploring all the city has to offer. Sale has been named as one of the best places to live in England, and we’re planning to make the most of its many attractions, from the arts centre to its pretty green spaces (ideal for picnics), plus its great shops, pubs and cafes. We may even visit other local Care UK homes, including Abney Court in Cheadle.
Time to dine
Meal times at our Sale care home will be the highlight of each day. We’re recruiting a talented chef-led catering team who will deliver a choice of tempting and nutritious hot and cold dishes menus all made from quality, fresh ingredients. We will cater for all tastes as well as particular dietary requirements and residents will be able to eat in our inviting dining rooms, or in their room if they prefer. Snacks and drinks will be available day and night too.
Our catering team will plan special themed menus and treats to tie in with annual events like Valentine’s Day or St Patrick’s Day. Food is very likely to play a big part in our daily activities too. And there’ll always be a freshly baked cake for your loved one’s birthday.
