At Pinetum, we develop engaging group and one-to-one activities that are based around your loved one’s personality, interests and wishes.
We believe that when a person is doing the activities and tasks they enjoy in a supportive atmosphere, they’re happy and fulfilled. That’s why we give residents choice and freedom about how they want to spend their day.
Enjoying activities and independence
If they like the purpose that having a little job around the home gives them, then they’re welcome to join our gardening club, or to bake cakes for everyone to enjoy. Some residents like to make art for display around the home.
Our regular group activities include games and gentle exercise classes.
Pinetum plays an active role in community life in Chester, and we have strong links with nearby schools, a local operatic society and a floral club.
Adding some fresh thinking
We also like to plan activities with a difference. We have run a 'cruise around the world' where residents select countries where our 'virtual boat' would dock. We then learnt about the history, culture, music and traditions of that place – even the food from the country in question. With residents’ input, we’ve also held an alternative 'V Festival' and hosted a rock band, who played for us.
Here for you
Our individual approach also applies to the way we support residents’ families in any way we can. For example, when a resident wanted to wake up on Christmas morning with their close family members near them, we got a spare room ready close to theirs, so that their relatives could stay overnight and be there with them when they woke up.
Our Facebook page includes events and recruitment notices, if you’d like to stay up-to-date with our home.
