Susannah has been manager of Place Court Wellbeing Centre in Haverhill since 2005. She explains why she finds her work so rewarding.

I started out my career as a care assistant in a hospital and over the years I’ve been involved in caring for older people in nursing homes, in their own homes and in day clubs too.

Place Court Wellbeing Centre has a very happy and friendly atmosphere – the team and the members all get to know each other really well, and we often say that we feel like one big family!

It’s so rewarding to be able to support Wellbeing Centre members to lead fulfilling lives and to stay active and independent. Sometimes we have new members who’ve been isolated in the community and have very little self-confidence. It’s a privilege to be in a position to help them to make new friends and see their confidence and self-esteem grow.
