A ‘Good’ CQC rated home
We were thrilled to be awarded a ‘good’ overall rating from the CQC in December 2019. The inspectors awarded a ‘good’ rating for all five areas inspected: ‘safe’, ‘effective’, ‘caring’, ‘responsive’ and ‘well led’.
You can read our CQC report here but here a few glowing comments from the inspectors:
Responsive approach to people’s needs.
The team have a good understanding of people’s hobbies and interests and support them to enjoy these. And an innovative 'Best Buddy' system encourages residents who find it difficult to mix with others to come out of their rooms.
Inspectors praise the positive relationships between colleagues and residents. The team know the best ways to calm or reassure residents. Residents are supported to follow their faith, make decisions about their care, and live as independently as possible.
Inspectors praise the openness of the management team and how the creation of colleague champions in areas such as dignity and dementia care, promote quality care. Colleagues are regularly rewarded for going the extra mile. All in all, there’s a positive culture that is open and empowering, where people feel listened to.
Sunningdale Court has been designed to enhance the quality of life for every resident, whatever their needs. The home is subdivided into smaller suites on each floor, helping to keep hustle and bustle to a minimum, which is particularly important for residents who are living with dementia. In fact, every aspect of the home’s design, from the colour on the walls, to the carpets and furnishings, incorporate touches that help people living with dementia to feel at home and to find their way around independently.
