At the Cedrus Club day care centre, we strive to make every day the best it can be for day club members.
We do everything from indoor carpet bowls to music, seated exercise and quizzes. We also have access to a minibus, so we’ll head out on trips to nearby places of interest.
Day club members love keeping busy in the garden. Together we’ve all nurtured what was a blank space and added our favourite plants, and grown veg. We plant up tubs and hanging baskets, paint bird boxes and keep bird feeders well stocked. The beauty of a garden is that it’s an ongoing project, and members can enjoy the fruits of their labours – literally.
Supporting members living with dementia
Some Cedrus Club members are living with dementia, so we ensure that the activities we organise are meaningful and relevant to them. It’s even better when something we do sparks lost memories. Reminiscence, memory games and wordsearches are all good activities for keeping members’ cognitive skills working, and they form a regular part of our activities programme.
Enjoying the facilities at Cedrus House
Members are also free to make the most of the facilities in Cedrus House, the Care UK care home next door. Day club members watch films in the cinema, have their hair done in the salon or enjoy the freshly baked cakes that are always available in the coffee shop. There’s always someone to chat to, and new friends to make.
