Our team will support your loved one to stay active, engaged and independent. Living at Whitby Dene is all about enjoying meaningful and fulfilling experiences.

We understand that, when your loved one is doing things they personally enjoy in an environment where they feel valued, they will be secure, happy and fulfilled. 

Tailored, rewarding activities

Many residents love the wide range of group activities that we provide, from baking and quizzes to art and reminiscence sessions.

Outings are always popular too. Residents enjoy theatre and boat trips, days at the seaside or at a local nature reserve, or even a quick trip to the shops.

We understand that group activities aren’t for everyone, so we make sure there’s plenty of one-to-one time if that’s what your loved one prefers. Whether they enjoy a pamper session, a chat over tea and cake, or fancy popping into town, we’ll support them to do whatever they wish. 

During COVID, we’ve done our best to keep life as normal as fulfilling for residents as we can. That’s included adapting activities, such as sports and exercise, so it’s socially distanced and safe, and using home tablets to bring entertainment into the home and stay connected by new means. Of course, when the weather’s good, we’ve also been able to enjoy relaxing and playing games outside in the home’s beautiful garden space.

In the community

A GP visits Whitby Dene twice a week and we will happily arrange any healthcare appointments that your loved one may need – and accompany them if you’re not able to. Many residents take pride in their appearance, so there are regular visits from a hairdresser.

In the mood for food

Meals are a highlight at Whitby Dene and a chance to sit and chat and enjoy generous and delicious meals made from quality ingredients. Our care home's catering team makes a point of sitting with residents on a regular basis to make sure that they’re enjoying the meals and to find out what they’d like more of. Snacks and drinks are available throughout the day for residents.
