A senior care assistant of a care home in Newbury has been nominated for a prestigious accolade.
Agata Francuz, Senior Care Assistant at Care UK’s Newbury Grove on London Road, has been named a finalist for the Care Home Worker Award at the BCA Care Awards.

She began her career in this sector as a care assistant in 2016, before joining Newbury Grove seven years ago as a Care Assistant.
Since joining the team, Agata has continued to jump at any opportunity to support the residents in leading fulfilling lives. She is now also a qualified Namaste care practitioner, dysphagia champion and activities supporter.
After having such a strong impact on those living at the home, a colleague at Newbury Grove completed a detailed application for this award on Agata’s behalf, outlining her contribution to life at Newbury Grove and the positive affect her work has had on residents.
Agata said: “I’m incredibly proud to be shortlisted for the Care Home Worker Award. Here at Newbury Grove, we’re committed to providing high-quality and deeply personalised care to all residents, and that’s helped us earn a reputation for excellence.
“There are a lot of misconceptions about care settings, but moving into a care home doesn’t mean losing quality of life or opportunity, so I’m extremely pleased that this is being recognised across Berkshire. I’m now looking forward to the awards – fingers crossed for a win!”
The BCA Care Awards celebrate excellence across all CQC-registered Adult Social Care services in Berkshire. The ceremony will take place on Thursday 14th May at Windsor Racecourse.
Adarsh Kurian, Home Manager at Newbury Grove, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Agata and delighted her hard work has been recognised.
“She goes above and beyond for all residents and is wonderful in supporting those who may not have as much support outside of the home. This level of care is not a part of her job description, but it reflects her deep sense of responsibility and empathy.
“Residents’ families frequently comment on how well-presented, relaxed and happy their loved ones are, directly due to Agata’s wonderful attention to detail and kindness. Good luck at the awards Agata!”
Newbury Grove has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care, and incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies, with facilities including its own cinema, hair and beauty salon and pub.
