Norwich care home team member shortlisted for prestigious national award

A care home in Norwich is celebrating after one of its team members was recognised nationally for her hard work and dedication.

Debbie Moore, Head Housekeeper at Care UK’s Cavell Court on Dragonfly Lane in Cringleford, has been shortlisted for care home housekeeping manager of the year at the Hotel Housekeeping Honours 2026 – an event that shines a light on those who consistently deliver exceptional standards.

The award will recognise an individual who stands out from the crowd, showcasing unrivalled industry professionalism and outstanding team leadership while demonstrating high standards of care for residents living in a care home.

Debbie joined Cavell Court in 2021 as a domestic assistant before swiftly rising through the ranks to take on the role of head housekeeper. Under her leadership, the team was named housekeeping team of the year in its Care UK region.

A natural leader, Debbie has transformed the housekeeping department, reshaping the dynamic of the team and creating meaningful friendships between residents and housekeeping and laundry teams.

Debbie said: “I feel humbled and privileged to have been nominated for such a prestigious award. I’m very proud of what we do at Cavell Court and feel incredibly lucky to do a job that I love, working alongside such caring and dedicated colleagues.”

The wellbeing and happiness of the home’s residents is Debbie’s top priority, and her trademark style of novelty socks and leg warmers are known for putting a smile on everyone’s faces. The socks are a big hit among the residents and are so popular they are now a permanent feature of the whole housekeeping team, with new styles becoming a talking point for residents.
