Mexborough care home team member shortlisted for prestigious national award

A care home in Mexborough is celebrating after one of its team members was recognised nationally for her hard work and dedication.

Charlie Parker, Home Manager at Care UK’s Montagu Hall on Harlington Road, has been shortlisted for registered manager of the year at the Leaders in Care Awards 2026 – an event that shines a light on those who consistently deliver exceptional standards.

The category recognises individuals who stand out from the crowd, showcasing outstanding team leadership and unrivalled industry professionalism while demonstrating high standards of care for residents living in a care home.

Charlie said: “I feel humbled and privileged to have been nominated for such a prestigious award. I’m very proud of what we do at Montagu Hall and feel incredibly lucky to do a job that I love, working alongside such caring and dedicated colleagues.”

Charlie joined Montagu Hall in April 2025, where her positive impact on the team and residents quickly became evident. Under her stewardship, the home was awarded an ‘outstanding’ CQC rating in November, with the most recent report praising the home’s “proactive and positive culture of safety”.

Commenting on Charlie’s leadership, one resident said: “Charlie is a very hard-working person but she always finds time for residents and our families. I don't think the home would be the same without her.”

Charlie has transformed communication within the home, reshaping the dynamic of the team with an open-door policy and a supportive approach. She has strived to create meaningful relationships between residents and the community, including welcoming the Mexborough veterans community to hold meetings at the home and encouraging veteran residents to join and form close friendships both in and outside of the meetings.

Valentin Catanescu, Regional Director at Care UK, said: “Charlie is truly an exceptional leader. She consistently goes above and beyond to support team members and connect with residents, taking time to chat and leave them smiling.

“We’re passionate about creating a welcoming environment and delivering a high quality of person-led care that ensures residents enjoy each day to the fullest. This high standard is a testament to Charlie’s leadership and the compassionate atmosphere she creates within the home.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to Charlie for her hard work – her award nomination is incredibly well deserved.”

The winners of the Leaders in Care Awards will be announced at a special ceremony on 6th October.

Montagu Hall provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, the home incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies, including a cinema, hair and beauty salon and café.
