Covid-19 vaccinations rolled out at Haverhill care home

Team members and residents at a Haverhill care home have been celebrating after they received Covid-19 vaccinations for almost everyone living in the home.

With the support of Haverhill Family Practice and Unity Healthcare, the vast majority of residents at Care UK’s Cleves Place, on Millfields Way, were given the first dose of the vaccination.

One of the first in the queue for the vaccination was 72-year-old Helen Morris, who said: “I’m so excited to have had my vaccination, as it means we’re closer to returning to normal.”

Noby Chelathadathil Jacob, Home Manager at Cleves Place, said: “We are so pleased that residents in our home have had the vaccination. I would like to offer my thanks to the NHS team at Haverhill Family Practice and Unity healthcare. They were incredibly efficient, friendly, and made sure everything went smoothly, which was much appreciated.  

“This is the first step towards getting back to normal, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the year. We’re looking forward to receiving our second dose of the vaccine as soon as we’re able.”

Care UK is keen to stress that the vaccine doesn’t provide full protection against the virus so its teams will continue to follow their stringent infection control measures including regular deep cleaning, regular testing, the use of masks and other PPE, social distancing, air purifiers and temperature checks to keep everyone safe.

Cleves Place is a modern care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.
