Home news

Cambridge’s newest care home, set to open later this year, has marked its latest construction milestone.

The Care UK team and representatives from specialist construction partner, McGoff Construction, placed the final roof tile at Heathlands House, on Bullen Close.

Team behind multi-million-pound Cambridge care home celebrates ‘topping out’The purpose-built care home – which is expected to welcome the first residents in September 2021 – will provide full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 68 older people, with facilities including its own cinema, hair salon and café.

Peter Griffiths, Development Project Manager for Care UK, said: “As one of the latest additions to a growing portfolio of residential care homes, Heathlands House represents a major investment for Care UK, and reflects our commitment to improving the provision of residential care in the area.

“I am delighted to have been a part of this milestone as we step ever-closer to opening the doors to the people of Cambridge, and we’re looking forward to seeing the inside of the home begin to take shape.”

Dave Wright, Contracts Manager at McGoff Construction, added: “We are proud to be playing a part in the progress of the much-needed, high-quality new care home for the local area. The building work is progressing fantastically, and we are pleased to be on schedule to be open in September 2021.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new care home, which is set to open later this year, will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
