Silversprings invited a collection of furry friends to the care home, including guinea pigs and pygmy goats. Residents had the opportunity to get up close with the animals, holding them and petting them on their laps in what made a fun morning for all.
Susan Oates, home manager at Silversprings, said: “The visit from Wellies-On provided a wonderful experience for everyone at Silversprings. We are always looking to introduce new, exciting and stimulating activities for residents, and this particular event proved to be very popular indeed.
“Not only does interaction with animals bring a welcome break from daily routines, it can also reduce anxiety, stress and feelings of isolation, so the visit was of great therapeutic benefit. All of the farmyard animals were extremely calm and friendly, and this helped ensure the activity was fun and enjoyable for all – we’re already planning a return visit with some of the farm’s larger animals!”
