Open Day at Cumberland Care Home in Mitcham

Residents in Mitcham are invited to take a closer look at the Cumberland care home on Friday 20th June from 12:30pm to 6:00pm, when it opens its doors as part of National Care Home Open Day.

Cumberland Care Home, which is run by leading health and social care provider Care UK, is fully embracing National Care Home Open Day, which aims to welcome members of the public to their local care homes, connecting residents with their communities, and changing perceptions of care homes.

Visitors to the Cumberland care home on Whitford Gardens can part in the ‘Street Party’ themed day and find out what is was like to live in the 1940's with traditional music and food. Refreshments and tours of the home will be available throughout the day.

Attendees of the open day at Cumberland will also be able to pick up complimentary copies of Care UK’s ‘As Easy As ABC’ guide and the recently launched ‘Listen, Talk, Connect’. The popular guides provide practical information for those caring for loved ones living with dementia, as well as advice on how to communicate with a loved one in a care home and make the most of their visits.
