Godalming care home team named Nursing Home of the Year in Surrey

Home news

A Godalming care home is celebrating after being named Nursing Home of the Year in Surrey at a prestigious national ceremony.

Care UK’s Jubilee House, on Pound Lane, has proudly accepted the ‘Providers with Impact: Nursing Home of the Year Award’ at the Surrey Care Awards 2023.

The awards, which were held at a prestigious awards ceremony in Dorking, recognise outstanding care homes across Surrey and celebrate the fantastic work of each home’s team members. On the night, Jubilee House was crowned the ‘Nursing Home of the Year’ Award, which recognises outstanding care homes committed to delivering excellent around-the-clock nursing care

Judges applauded the home for its dedication in delivering high quality dementia care and recognised how team members create activities and lifestyle plans using ‘life story books’, which record residents’ current and past lifestyle, hobbies, interests, and preferences. These life story books are also used as the inspiration behind planning activities and day trips out for residents to enjoy.

Judges also noted how team members work hard to create a soothing and calming environment using aromatherapy and sensory Namaste Care for residents with more advanced dementia. These new forms of care, which are provided in newly created rooms in the home, help to improve engagement and sleep quality, while enhancing residents’ physical and mental wellbeing.

This top-quality level of care is also regularly praised by residents’ relatives, with judges highlighting a recent review, where a relative said: “It's very reassuring and comforting to know that my mother-in-law, a wheelchair user with vascular dementia and Alzheimer's, is in the care of the staff at Jubilee House. They are enormously caring, very responsive to any request and seem to care as much for the resident’s family as the residents themselves.”

Malgo Wcislo, Home Manager at Jubilee House, said: “We’re delighted to win the Providers with Impact: Nursing Home of the Year Award. Here at Jubilee House, the team works hard to ensure that residents live healthy and fulfilling lives, regardless of their needs.

“We work incredibly hard to support residents with compassionate, person-centred care, and this win shows just how dedicated the team is at looking after every individual’s needs. I know residents and relatives would agree, that everyone at Jubilee House has a contagious, positive energy that travels throughout the home and the wider community.

“I am incredibly proud of the team for their consistent passion, sensitivity, and dedication delivering nursing care. It’s a pleasure to come to work every day and be surrounded by such a hardworking team who help make Jubilee House a fantastic place to work – and the perfect place to call home.”

Jubilee House has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential care, nursing care, dementia care and respite care. There is also plenty of space, both indoors and out, for relaxation and recreation.
