Our history 

Care provider Care UK (formerly known as Anglia Secure Homes) has been leading the way in health and social care for over 25 years.

 

1982

Anglia Secure Homes is formed.

1986

Haven Management Services Limited is incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Anglia Secure Homes plc., which joins the Unlisted Securities Market in July.

1988

Anglia Secure Homes obtains a full listing on the London International Stock Exchange in January. In August of that year the group's first nursing home at Little Holland Hall is opened.

1989

Haven Care is the name chosen to launch a new homecare service.

1994

On 3rd March the company changes its name from Anglia Secure Homes to Care UK Plc.

1997

Care Solutions Limited, a learning disabilities provider, is acquired. Care Solutions manages 59 homes and 197 residents in Newcastle, Bradford, Staffordshire and Guildford.

1998

Care UK acquires The Care Partnership with seven homecare branches in Hampshire and along the south coast.

1999

ARC Healthcare, a provider of care for the mentally ill, is acquired. At the beginning of October, the Care UK Mental Health Partnerships Division is created.

2000

Major contract wins in both the residential and homecare sector.

2001

Mike Parish is appointed as new Chief Executive.

2003

A joint venture is formed with Afrox Healthcare to bid for independent sector treatment centre (ISTC) contracts. Three contracts are won. 75 per cent of Corvedale Holdings, a children's service, is acquired.

2004

Althea Park, a care provider specialising in eating disorders and self harm, is acquired. Care UK enters the primary care market with a GP out-of-hours contract in south east Essex.

2005

Care UK is appointed preferred bidder for a further ISTC contract in north east London.

2006

New primary care services are commissioned in Newcastle, London, Luton and Barking & Dagenham. Care UK opens its first GP practice and walk-in centre in Dagenham.

2007

Mercury Health is acquired and Care UK's business is organised into five divisions: primary care, secondary care, residential care, community care and specialist care. Care UK is appointed preferred provider for Greater Manchester Clinical Assessment & Treatment Service (CATS).

2008

In August Care UK acquires the remaining 50 per cent share of Partnership Health Group (PGH). A contract to build and operate a further ISTC in Southampton is won and commences service in October, bringing the total number of Care UK operated ISTCs to 10.

2009

In February Care UK launches a brand new, state-of-the-art mobile assessment and treatment service - the Greater Manchester CATS. Two beautiful new residential homes are opened in Slough and Chelmsford. A number of new GP led health centres are launched, bringing the total to 11.

2010

Following a management buyout, private equity group Bridgepoint becomes the major shareholder in Care UK, allowing the company to continue to invest in new facilities and expand the range of innovative services it offers. The company de-lists from the stock exchange on April 27 and Care UK plc changes its name to Care UK Ltd.

The fostering division of Care UK's children's services is sold to CareTech in December 2010.

2011

Care UK acquired Rhodes Farm Clinic which treats eating disorders in young people and sold the Children’s residential services business to Keys Education and Care Ltd.
