Many catering colleagues join us from restaurants or hotels where they’re used to working long hours late into the night. The Barton Manor team is committed to delivering exceptional care every day. Our vision is that residents feel supported in a beautiful home with a real family atmosphere. For me, it is about improving quality of life for everyone here.
I have had previous experience as a Home Manager and have also been a palliative carer within the NHS. I have level 2,3,4 and 5 NVQs and have completed counselling skills at levels 2 and 3.
In this role, you need resilience, empathy and passion. You also need to be reliable so that people can trust and rely on you to take responsibility. Being here at the start and commissioning Barton Manor has been such a career highlight. It’s been a hard journey, but every moment has been worth it. Seeing the home grow and watching colleagues develop has been incredibly rewarding.
Walk-arounds are my favourite part of the day. It is when I get the chance to see residents and have a chat. Seeing everyone relaxed and happy, whether they’re singing, dancing or taking part in other activities, is lovely.
In my spare time I enjoy walking my two amazing Tibetan terriers. I also like to relax with family and friends.
