I’ve worked for Care UK for 18 years now. I’d been working in retail, but a family member worked here at the time and told me how good the home was, from the management down, and how the team got to know residents and their families. It sounded like a place I wanted to be a part of.
I started as a domestic assistant and have worked my way up the ranks, doing all the training I could, including Care UK’s special training aimed at home managers of the future. It took confidence to put myself forward to be the Home Manager, but I’m so happy I did, because I absolutely love my job.
My walk arounds are some of my favourite times of the day, when I get to speak to residents and families. We have a brilliant team at Elwick Grange and the best thing about working here is being able to play a part in providing quality care to residents, and enabling them to live happy, fulfilling lives.
Any spare time I have I like to spend with my husband, family and friends. I enjoy travelling to new places for days out or weekends away. I also enjoy reading, and I do try to keep fit.
