The Role

Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen and related areas.
Preparation of produce for mealtime, for example vegetable preparation and making of sandwiches
Ensure correct storage of all dry and perishable produce.
Safely storing cleaning materials
Ensure all cooking utensils and pots are cleaned to the required standards
Carry out any tasks assigned by the Head / Second Chef or Home Manager

We have our own Catering Academy to provide excellent training and induction programs for all new Catering Assistants and we will give you all that’s needed to have a successful career as a Catering Assistant with us. My very first experience of Care UK was as a relative when my grandad lived in one of its homes. I loved seeing how he was made to feel part of a family and it made me want to be part of a team that made that possible.

I have now worked for Care UK for 14 years, starting as a carer and progressing to my current role as home manager. I have also undertaken level two and three NVQs and have a wealth of experience of dementia and end of life care.

In all caring roles you need to be compassionate and respectful. You also need to be trustworthy, and calm in stressful situations. Being a problem solver with good attention to detail helps a lot too. As we work as a team, it’s essential to work well with others.

I have a huge amount of pride in what I do. My work is meaningful, and everyone here provides a warm and caring environment that prioritises dignified living and tailored support.

My favourite part of the day is the early morning and saying hello to everyone. Being able to sit and talk with residents is rewarding and enjoyable too, especially finding out about their lives and what they’ve achieved.
