The role

Enhancing the dining experience of our residents
Encouraging social interaction between residents
Providing great customer service.
Ensure the dining room is set up prior to all mealtimes
Monitor appropriate checklists in support of dining area cleanliness
Asist in keeping the Bistro area replenished
Assist with special events held within the home

About you

Level 2 in Food Hygiene (or willingness to undertake the qualification within 12 weeks)
Experience in catering services (waiting/serving) is beneficial, but not essential
Excellent organisational skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
Ability to work flexible hours to meet the business needs
Effective time keeping and time management

Join our team and you'll have the chance to get creative in the kitchen while cooking up nutritious, well-balanced meals that have a direct impact on residents’ health and wellbeing.

Many catering colleagues join us from restaurants or hotels where they’re used to working long hours late into the night. In a care home, you’ll work more sociable hours, and you’ll also have the opportunity to build relationships by getting to know residents and their tastes and preferences. A closely-knit team of managers, carers, nurses and support colleagues – and each of us is dedicated to your loved one’s care, health and wellbeing.

I have over 25 years’ experience working in health and social care. In that time, I’ve gained invaluable knowledge within neurological, palliative and rehabilitation care.

As a home manager, there is a lot to think about, particularly from an admin point of view. Whilst managing budgets is important, I like to focus on Chapter House being a safe, caring and responsive environment. To ensure that happens, you need to be compassionate, open and transparent.

On a day-to-day basis, I feel extremely proud to be able to make a positive difference to residents’ lives. Seeing them and their families happy is very rewarding. It’s also fulfilling to be able to support colleagues achieve their own professional goals.

I like to spend my free time gardening and travelling.
