A closely-knit team of managers, carers, nurses and support colleagues – and each of us is dedicated to your loved one’s care, health and wellbeing.
I am a qualified nurse and also have a degree in mental health nursing. I have also completed an accredited leadership course with the Royal College of Nursing.
I have been with Care UK since 2023, and it’s an organisation with a strong ethos and values that are completely focused on delivering high-quality care.
As a home manager, excellent leadership is vital. The key is understanding each resident and each team member, and maintaining open, honest communication with everyone who comes to Hartwood. Working in care takes real commitment, and a leadership position needs a high level of focus and attention to detail, while still being warm and approachable. My door is always open to everyone.
I also believe in leading by example, so I always try to model excellent practice. It is important to fulfil the responsibility and trust placed in me, and I want to ensure every resident has a positive experience here.
I love to see people enjoy themselves. Socialising is so important to a person’s well-being. It’s wonderful to see the bistro filled with relatives and children visiting their loved ones. Life for many people starts again in a care home, and I have seen so many residents over the years find a fresh purpose, make friends and enjoy new hobbies. Being a home manager is a privilege and deeply rewarding. I honestly don’t see this as just a job; it’s a large part of my life, and my workplace is like a second home.
Outside of work, my son and I love going on wildlife walks in the woods. I also enjoy anything that involves animals. I have a large extended family too, so we socialise a lot, which I always look forward to.
