Trusted to care

A closely-knit team of managers, carers, nurses and support colleagues – and each of us is dedicated to your loved one’s care, health and wellbeing.

I qualified as a registered nurse back in 1995 and also studied law, earning an LLB (hons) degree in 1998. I was a deputy manager previously and before that I had a variety of roles, all in the private care sector.

I decided to join Care UK because of its reputation. I have worked for other healthcare providers and in my opinion, Care UK is by far the best.

You need strong leadership skills to be a home manager, along with a genuine sense of compassion, justice and advocacy. It’s important to do what is right for people, particularly if they are vulnerable. You also need to be a team builder and support colleagues and others who come into contact with the home.

I enjoy being part of the team and working shoulder to shoulder with colleagues to face whatever the day may bring. Taking a hands-on approach means I can stay in touch with residents and find out how they are feeling – they are of course, the most important people here.

I feel incredibly proud of what we do here, seeing residents enjoying their time at Brook Court. I was thrilled to have received five nominations for Deputy Manager of the Year when I was in that role, it meant so much to me.

I make a point of being available to residents, their relatives and colleagues. I enjoy being able to offer support and guidance where I can, but I also recognise how important it is to continue learning.
