Michele Lloyd has been manager of Kings Court since 2009. She explains why she enjoys working with older people and what makes Kings Court so special.
I started working in care home management in 1999, following a career as a nurse in care homes and in the Royal Navy. I chose to specialise in working with older people because I enjoy it so much - I like spending time with older people and talking to them about their lifetime experiences. I feel that older people have earned the right to be looked after well and it’s an honour to be able to care for them and to give them positive, life-enhancing experiences.
The thing I like most about Kings Court is the friendly atmosphere we have here. Our team have really strong, personal relationships with the residents. I think it helps that everyone in our team is from the local area, so we have a lot in common with residents who’ve also grown up and worked around here. Barnard Castle is still a thriving farming community and many of our carers are also farmers.Michele Lloyd Home Manager
