A closely-knit team of managers, carers, nurses and support colleagues – and each of us is dedicated to your loved one’s care, health and wellbeing.
I’m a registered mental health nurse, and I have worked my way up in almost every job role within a care home, starting as a Care Assistant and including working as part of the domestic, kitchen, admin and lifestyle teams. I have a real understanding of how every cog fits together and the impact that we all have in ensuring the home runs smoothly.
Before joining Care UK, I was working as a Regional Support Manager with another care provider. Being in a regional role and supporting multiple care homes, I felt like I couldn’t easily effect changes and improvements on the ground within the care homes. I also missed being part of a team and belonging to a care home. Care UK has a fantastic reputation, and the care Inspectorate grades across Scotland speak for themselves.
As a Home Manager, it’s important to have energy, passion and a willingness to have difficult conversations to ensure that we are all striving to fulfil the lives of the people who choose to live at Cairdean House.
I love meeting and speaking to new people and learning about the residents and team members here. I enjoy hearing what is important to them and what makes people tick, as well as how we can make them smile.
Supporting and guiding my team and creating an environment where people want to be and feel proud to be part of the Cairdean family is one of my favourite parts of my role.
Outside of work, I’m a crafty person with many hobbies, from stained glass making to mosaics, sewing and cooking, to name a few. I can’t sit still, so I’m always looking for new adventures and experiences to take on.
