Welcome to Little Holland Hall – our comfortable, modern and purpose built care home in Holland-on-Sea, Essex.

We provide quality, tailored short term respite breaks, plus nursing, palliative and end of life care. Within our grounds, but run separately to Little Holland Hall, is The Lodge, where older people can live independently. Our close ties with The Lodge mean that its residents can easily come and stay with us to enjoy a little extra support whenever they need to.

Tailored care and support

It’s this tailored, flexible support that we pride ourselves on providing at Little Holland Hall, and which has meant that we have developed a strong local reputation. We get to know each person, from their physical needs through to their personality, what they like to do, where they used to live, their hobbies and interests. Then we set about creating a care plan that’s unique to them. We also get to know our residents’ families well too (many of our care team know what it’s like to have a loved one move into a care home) and we support them in any way we can.

A wonderful location

Everyone likes to be beside the seaside – and at Little Holland Hall our care home is literally over the road from the sea, and that’s just one of the many plus points of our home. Our beautifully landscaped gardens contain 13th century ruins and are a lovely spot for sitting out in during the warmer months or doing a spot of gardening (our gardening club helps to keep everything looking lovely). We’ve a large pond where residents like to watch the fish and feed the ducks.

Individuality and independence

We take an innovative approach to helping our residents to feel involved. When our doorbell broke we asked one or our residents, a stroke survivor, to act as doorman for the day. The role gave him such a strong sense of purpose and a confidence boost that he’s continued in the role and even has his own polo shirt and badge to wear.

Our activities co-ordinator plans varied group and one-to-one activities each week, tailored to our residents’ interests and life stories. Gentle movement to music, pampering sessions, games and visits from local entertainers are typical activities residents like to get involved in. A ‘pat dog’ comes to visit the home from time to time and everyone loves making a fuss of him.  And, of course, if residents fancy a stroll along the sea front, it’s easy – as is a trip into town: we’re close to the centre of Holland-on-Sea and its shops and cafes. We also head to the theatre in Clacton when there’s a show we fancy seeing.
