World Read Aloud Day

Celebrated by millions of people in more than 100 countries, World Read Aloud Day promotes the importance of reading and sharing stories.

Devised by non-profit organisation LitWorld, the annual event is an opportunity for us all to celebrate the power of words and help build communities of readers to show the world the right to literacy belongs to all people.

This year, many Care UK care homes throughout the country will be getting involved, and friends, family and members of the local community are invited for what is sure to be a fun, popular event.

What’s in store this year?

As well as the interactive read aloud sessions and the opportunity to discuss your favourite books and classic literature, an esteemed special guest will be joining us this year. We’ve created a short film starring patron of The Society for Storytelling, Taffy Thomas MBE, in which he reads stories with residents and provides top tips for storytelling. This exclusive film will be screened at all participating homes.

We hope you will join us for a delightful day of storytelling.
