Enjoying lifelong hobbies and discovering new interests – there’s always lots to do here.
If you think that life in a care home is boring, Lauder Lodge will make you think again!
Keeping active and enjoying life is what we’re all about, and our team take pride in organising a range of socially distanced group and one-to-one activities for residents to enjoy. Everything is tailored to their interests and hobbies and if residents have suggestions for new activities we always love to hear about them.
Spoilt for choice
Residents are encouraged to mix within small, socially distanced groups within the home and gardens, where they can relax over a cup of tea in the garden or enjoy the lifestyle programme. Our dedicated lifestyle team work hard to ensure there’s always a range of activities to join in with each day. These range from quizzes to baking, gentle exercise to music and sing-alongs, to gardening, games, reminiscence sessions and arts and crafts.
Enjoying tasty food
Each floor of the home is divided into two, with each of these ‘suites’ having its own bistro-style dining area and lounge. This layout helps to reduce hustle and bustle, helping residents who are living with dementia to feel calmer and more relaxed. We also offer in-room dinning for those who prefer, or need, additional distancing.
The modern restaurant-style dining areas help to give a sense of occasion to every meal. We have a talented catering team who take pride in serving up tasty, tempting and nutritious dishes made from fresh ingredients. As well as catering for all tastes, diets and cultural requirements, they also lay on drinks, snacks and treats throughout the day. We understand that appetites change as we get older, and if your loved one fancies something different one day, our team will rustle it up for them.
Celebrating every day
Food is at the heart of every celebration, so we love to mark residents’ birthdays, as well as national days and events with a culinary twist, whether it’s trying something a bit different for Chinese New Year, enjoying the old favourites at a Burns Supper or getting festive at Christmas.
But we don’t need a special date in the calendar as an excuse to treat ourselves: there’s sure to be something sweet and tempting each day at morning coffee and afternoon tea time, courtesy of our catering team!
