With more than 35 years’ experience in hospitality and the care sector, my career has been dedicated to looking after people. Before joining Care UK in 1991, I spent the previous 4 years in hospitality with De Vere Hotels and Gardner Merchant, where I had the opportunity to manage a catering service for a care home. This rewarding experience inspired me to join Care UK, so that I could continue to work with likeminded people, that were passionate about making a difference to the quality of other people’s lives.
I’m often asked why I choose to stay with Care UK, and the answer is simple: Over the years our residents, relatives and colleagues have always been at the heart of the organisation. Care UK has an excellent reputation in the sector, strong values, and an unwavering commitment to support residents to lead fulfilling lives. I am incredibly proud and constantly humbled by the kind and compassionate care our teams provide.
During my career Care UK has supported my professional development and enabled me to progress into a variety of roles, from hotel services manager, head of facilities management, to project director, operations director, and now strategic programme director.
As strategic programme director I work with the executive team to develop our strategic plans and support them to stay focused on the delivery of our strategic objectives. As I’m responsible for all major projects, I’ve been privileged to work on a variety of cutting-edge initiatives, including the opening of over 90 new care homes, the integration of 52 care homes, acquisitions, system implementations, digital transformation, and the implementation of new ways of working. I am also responsible for the delivery of the customer care support and sales services, and internal helpdesks that support operational colleagues, where my goal is to deliver the best service possible.
