Care home open week 2023

To celebrate Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors to the community, our Care UK homes are planning a series of festival themed events across the country.

Bedtime stories

Children’s stories are often the first key to unlocking our imaginations and nurturing a lifelong love of reading. Unfortunately, we know not every child is lucky enough to have a grandparent to read to them, so we wanted to provide an alternate experience for families to enjoy. That’s why across the UK team members and residents are sharing their love of reading with their local communities

Wisdom booths

Each day at Care UK, we hear wonderful words of advice from residents, and we’ve decided it’s time for the rest of the world to benefit from them too. That’s why we’ve launched Wisdom Booths, a nationwide initiative which sees residents gift their words of wisdom to the younger generation.

Care UK's 40th anniversary

To mark the occasion of Care UK's 40th anniversary in 2022, we wanted to do something special. We challenged our teams to spend 40 days giving back to their local communities.

Platinum Jubilee

Like the rest of the UK, we’re thrilled to be celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Many of the residents living in our homes remember the Queen’s coronation in 1953, so it’s little wonder they were keen to celebrate her 70th anniversary in style!

Long lost hobbies

From woodworking to embroidery, these favourite hobbies from the past risk being lost or forgotten. That's why residents in Care UK homes have been stepping back in time to revisit their favourite pastimes.

Let's get physical

Exercise plays an essential role in not only our physical and mental health. That’s why we encouraged all Care UK homes to ‘get physical’ and try new, fun forms of exercise.

The Big Draw

We’re proud to support The Big Draw. Every October residents and teams across our homes get creative and take part in the international art campaign.

Food for thought

In 2021, residents and our teams stepped back in time to dine through the decades and celebrate residents' favourite foods from the past, as part as our ‘Food for thought’ campaign.

Ride 800

In 2019 three of Care UK’s directors to took part in a gruelling 800-mile ride, raising over £24,000 for charity.

Birdwatch

Every year, residents and team members across Care UK like to celebrate the best of British birds by taking part in our nationwide birdwatch event.
