Home news

A care home in Sidcup has announced the appointment of its new home manager.

Bringing more 14 years’ experience in the care sector and over 20 years in General Nursing to her new role, Tracey Cheeseman will lead the team at Care UK’s Smyth Lodge, on Frognal Avenue.

New home manager takes the helm at Sidcup care homeA qualified Registered Nurse, Tracey worked in a number of clinical areas before specialising in emergency care, prior to a move into the social care sector. After managing a smaller home, she moved to a large 120-bed multi-site care home and is now bringing her wealth of experience and expertise to Smyth Lodge.

Tracey’s new position will see her take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the care home, which provides residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 80 residents. She will also bring her holistic approach to care, which puts residents and their families at the centre of everything, in order to enable them to live active and fulfilling lives while supporting them to remain as independent as possible.

Commenting on her new position, Tracey said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the home manager here at Smyth Lodge, and to be leading such a well-regarded team. Care UK has values and principles that align with my own, and I’m looking forward to working in an environment that is warm, welcoming and friendly for residents and team members alike.

“Humour is key to create a comfortable and happy environment - I love to hear residents and team members laughing together, and I’m looking forward to bringing that to Smyth Lodge. I’m so excited to have been chosen as the new home manager, I take my responsibilities seriously and genuinely feel honoured to be able to be part of the lives of the wonderful people in our care. I look forward to combining my nursing and leadership skills in my new role.”

Angi Knight, regional director at Care UK, said: “I knew Tracey would be the perfect fit for Smyth Lodge. She is a highly experienced individual and has already played a huge role in the success of other care homes, so I am in no doubt that she will continue to do a fantastic job and build upon our reputation for high quality, person-centred care.”

Smyth Lodge has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential dementia and nursing care, as well as respite care.
