Meet our friendly care team

It is the people who make our home a truly happy and caring one. At Rush Hill Mews, our experienced team of dedicated professionals, all of whom undergo our own in-depth training programme. The whole team works to make sure that residents' needs are at the heart of everything they do and that personalised care is provided.

Caroline Carter

General Manager

Caroline Carter

I’ve worked in the care sector for nearly 30 years and am passionate about dementia care and end of life care, in particular, I’m currently studying for a Masters degree in dementia care studies.

In this role it’s important to lead by example and to keep a calm head. Knowledge and experience are important, I started out as a carer and worked my way up, so I know the challenges faced by my team.

Care UK’s ethos of care, which puts residents at the heart of everything, echoes my own values. The organisation also offers superb training and development opportunities so that colleagues can learn and progress their careers.

I am focused on continuous improvement and have worked on a number of initiatives aimed at enhancing quality of life for people with dementia, including using technology to promote health and wellbeing. I’m looking forward to supporting the team at Rush Hill Mews to achieve outstanding levels of care.

Tricia Yahya
Deputy Manager

I started working as a Nurse in 1993 and have worked in a variety of roles, including as a Clinical Lead, Nurse Manager, Deputy Manager and General Manager. I was keen to join Care UK because it has a great reputation. I also know some of the team at Rush Hill Mews and they always have good things to say about it.

As a Deputy Manager I think it’s important to be kind, caring, empathetic and committed to delivering the highest standards of care. That means going above and beyond to ensure residents are happy. It also means supporting the team to develop and progress.

I’m looking forward to working with the management team to create an ‘A Team’ at our Bath care home. We’ve got a superb team and we want to support them to be able to deliver their best work. We’re in the process of establishing systems to support the team to meet all our goals.

Outside of work I’m working on a novel. I also enjoy cooking, watching movies and dining out.

Millie Haines
Home Admissions Advisor

I joined Rush Hill Mews in 2021 from another care home provider where I was a Deputy Manager. I started out in care in 2017 as a support worker. I wanted to join Care UK because it’s a well respected provider, delivering great care and offering superb career opportunities.

Empathy and a caring nature are vital when you do this job. I never forget what a huge decision it is for families to decide to move a loved one into a care home. There are many different emotions involved, so understanding and compassion go a long way.

Lunchtime here at our Bath care home is probably my favourite time of the day because it’s fantastic to see residents socialising together and enjoying the great food that our kitchen team serves up. When I can I also take part in activities, and help to arrange events that we host at Rush Hill Mews.

Away from work I enjoy losing myself in a book, going for long walks and catching up with friends and family.

Louis Payne
Business Administrator

I came to this home having spent nine years previously in a similar role within the care sector. Prior to that, I lived in Malta for five years where I managed a huge portfolio of off shore trusts. My pride and joy are my family - my beautiful wife, and my two equally beautiful daughters! Since joining the home, I truly feel like I have gained another family. This was particularly evident during the commissioning of the home when it opened, and further reinforced by the recent Heart & Soul Awards.

Jennie Russell
Clinical Nurse Manager

I’m a trained nurse, and before joining Care UK, I worked as a ward sister at the Royal United Hospital on the elderly care acute assessment unit. I decided to move to Rush Hill Mews for a better work-life balance and more flexible working.

As a Clinical Nurse Manager, it’s important to be empathetic, patient and calm. You also need to be hardworking and have good organisational skills, as well as a good sense of humour! In my role, I communicate with all colleagues, residents and their families and external professionals.

I’m proud of what I do when I see residents happy and know that I can reassure their loved ones that they are in good hands.

Outside of work, I relax by running, doing yoga and attending gym classes, as well as enjoying music and concernts and trying fine wines. I was also lucky enough to once be awarded a ‘nurses day out’ by Virgin Radio, spending the day with 50 nurses and DJ Chris Evans!

Deborah Taylor
Activities Coordinator

I joined Rush Hill Mews in 2022 after volunteering with the Activities Team whilst my partner’s mum was a resident. Before this, I was a primary school teacher for more than 20 years.

I really enjoyed engaging with the residents and working alongside such a great team as a volunteer. When a job came up, the Activities Lead encouraged me to apply, and I’m so pleased I did!

It’s important to have a good sense of humour in this role. You need to be patient and flexible and to enjoy chatting and getting to know really interesting people. My favourite part of the day is always the time I get to spend with the residents, particularly when we have visiting entertainers in and are all joining in together.

I look forward to continuing widening the opportunities available for residents, helping them enjoy their hobbies and interests and introducing them to new ones.

Outside of work, I unwind by walking by the sea, knitting, reading and supporting my partner with his hobby of photographing and writing books about buses.

Alex Webber
Head Chef

I was working as a Kitchen Manager for a contract catering company before joining Rush Hill Mews. I was keen to work for a larger provider like Care UK with more support and opportunities.

It’s important to be strong-willed, determined and creative as Head Chef. This role is all about building great relationships with residents through meals, meetings and regular conversations; planning nutritional, seasonal menus and ensuring the kitchen is maintained and run to the highest possible standards.

Knowing the residents are happy makes me proud of what I do. My favourite part of the day is after supper because I know each resident has had three nutritious meals throughout the day.

When I’m not working, I enjoy painting, and I’m part of a pool league that plays eight-ball pool.

Claire Davis
Receptionist

I had 13 years of experience working as a receptionist in a doctor’s surgery before joining Rush Hill Mews.

As a receptionist, my role is to welcome visitors, family members and colleagues to our home. I love working with people: residents, their families and team members alike. I’m proud to be front of house to greet visitors, and I enjoy the varied workload – no two days are ever the same.

I believe a receptionist needs to be friendly and welcome visitors with a smile, but you also need to show sympathy and be a good listening ear during difficult times. It’s important be organised and be able to multitask and problem solve as well.

Lesley Eade
Head Housekeeper

I’ve worked in the care sector for a while and was a Care Aassistant before I moved into housekeeping. Even though I’m not delivering hands on care these days, caring is still a large part of what I do. I always chat to the residents when I’m cleaning their rooms and I find out what they’ve been doing and how they are. Those little interactions can make all the difference to their mood and whether they have a good day.

We’re a small housekeeping team, but we’re full of passion for what we do, and for ensuring that residents have a lovely clean and tidy home to enjoy. If a resident wants to help with dusting or tidying the lounge, we’ll support them to do so as it’s a great way for them to feel valued and to stay independent.

My job keeps me busy, and in my free time my garden and grandchildren keep me occupied too! We look forward to welcoming you to Rush Hill Mews very soon.

Paul Sanders
Maintenance

It’s my role to make sure the home is safe and secure at all times. I was proud to get this role at Rush Hill Mews as I believe Care UK is a good care provider to work for, and knowing I can make residents happy by doing a job for them is fulfilling.

Residents and team members can approach me about any job that needs doing in the home, and I’m happy to help. I enjoy coming back to the home every day to pick up where I left off the day before.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
