On the 80th Anniversary of D-Day on 6th June 2024, communities up and down the country will come together to remember the many thousands of people who gave their lives to enable us to enjoy the freedoms we have today.
Many residents living in our care homes across the country will have lived through this poignant period, and so Care UK will be acting as the ‘Beacon of Light to those who care’.
We are partnering with Bruno Peek CVO OBE OPR, Pageant master of D-Day 80, and the three Forces Charities and the Merchant Navy Association involved in D-Day 80, in leading a national tribute.
At Care UK, we recognise the importance of celebrating veterans living at our homes and their achievements.
A team at a care home in Chichester have helped a resident complete his greatest wish.
A Horsham care home resident had a special birthday celebration to honour his status as one of the last surviving D-Day veterans from World War Two.
Care UK care homes up and down the country will be hosting their very own commemorative events, lighting a lamp light of peace and hosting the community for a special tribute.
